Sustainability and innovation in the Apulian viticulture of table grape
The project pursues the overall objective to recover a sustainable level of profitability and
competitiveness for the production of table grapes in Puglia, reducing the existing gaps towards its
main competitors from other areas and countries. This objective is only feasible if a comprehensive
approach is used involving the whole supply chain. Specifically, the project will work on the finetuning
and provision of new seedless varieties more respondent to the demand’s requests as well as on
the fine-tuning of more efficient and sustainable production processes.
The project will develop through the following phases:
1. Evaluation of the behavior of seedless table grape varieties in the nursery.
2.Characterization of new table grape varieties
3. Development of agronomic techniques for irrigation management.
4. assessment of the aptitude for conservation of new varieties and development of techniques to
improve it.
5. Evaluate the environmental and economic impact of process innovations in order to transfer
awareness and knowledge to the players in the supply chain and consumers.
6. Conduct market analysis to assess potential target markets
