Enhancement of the ecosystem services of the Monti Dauni forests in the Forest Contract
The project contributes to the implementation of the objectives of support for rural development, which aim to pave the way for a sustainable and competitive forest sector, which plays an important role in rural development and in the whole economy, offering advantages also in social and multifunctional terms like the tourist-receptive one. These objectives are implemented by the measures envisaged by P.S.R. of Puglia 2014-2020, which supports sustainable forest management, in line with the investment priorities indicated by the European Commission.
The main activities envisaged by the project include:
1) standardizing processes for the activation of a shared process.
2) the identification of the potential of the forest-wood-energy supply chain in the area. The
goal is to standardize a supply chain for small sustainable cogeneration plants.
3) Certification of wood assortments. Local and quality wood not in terms of technologies but
of territorial and sustainable value.
4) Transfer of the level of innovation at several levels among the stakeholders.
5) Design of experiential formats to discover little-appreciated and little-known mountain
landscape locations.
6) Communication.
