The goals of the project focus mainly on plant protection and disease control in vineyards, through the management of phytosanitary treatments and the formulation of protocols for pest control
The NOVIAGRI project is expected to accomplish the following goals:
• realization of a sprayer with automatic distribution management;
• implementation of a smartphone app;
• DSS (Decision Support System) for the in-field identification of infected plants
The NOVIAGRI project aims to develop practical and concrete solutions to the following issues:
1. occupational health and safety (in the agricultural sector);
2. environmental protection;
3. consumers demand for safer and chemical residues free food products.
In this context, stands out the need for vine growers to adopt more rational pest management practices, aiming to better efficacy, fewer environmental impacts and lower costs.
These elements constitute the main concerns addressed by vine-growers, members of the Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato consortium, in demanding for a collective action aiming to verify the existence of technical solutions and low cost initiatives, to be easily adopted by vine-workers and technicians for addressing the above-mentioned issues.
Particularly, the consortium acquired an area, paced at the boundaries of several municipalities (Agliano Terme, Nizza Monferrato, San Marzano Oliveto, Castelnuovo Calcea, Mombercelli, Vinchio e Calosso), characterized by the coexistence of different phenomena:
• high flavescence dorée infection rate;
• presence of farms with low innovation rates (in fact, in the Northern area, due to the prevalence of small-holders and to the loss of income, the vine growing sector is characterized by low innovation and industrialization rates)
Development of hardware and software for the download of sprayer prototype distribution data
Smartphone app for the correct setting of the sprayer machine
DSS to recognize the infected plants (virosis, yellowish, Esca complex) in a vineyard
Fight Protocol for epidemche diseases (viruses, yellows, Esca complex)
