Biological direct control methods for defense, aimed at reducing biotic potential of the brown marmorated stink bug
Biovitamina includes different actions of direct defense against the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) to limit the biotic potential of the phytophagus. The use of natural products is preferable to synthetic chemicals because these insects are extraordinarily adaptable and able to create generations that are increasingly resistant to the various products. Moreover, the project involves the application of entomopathogenic microorganisms, important natural regulators of insect populations.
Since no entomopathogenic microorganisms for H. halys have yet been registered, their effectiveness will only be tested in the laboratory and under controlled conditions in the field.
The operational plan includes:
• Preparatory and instrumental activities, aimed to the correct execution of experimental and open field
activities; realization of experimental fields for the evaluation of defense assessment against H. halys
culture;
• Implementation and data collection activities aimed to carry out field experiment and evaluation path
of possible authorization of some products;
• Training and dissemination activities: farmers will benefit from the training service related to the
project. The dissemination activities of the results will be included in annual and end-of-project
reports.
