PEI-AGRI

Technological Innovation for Efficient Harvest Forecasting

Obiettivi
Objectives

The Plan aims to apply on field an innovative imaging technology, economic and simple to use for monitoring in real time the phenolic ripening of the grapes. This will provide support and an organizational service to the territorial supply chain, allowing the advance planning of grape harvesting, in relation to the level of phenolic maturity. Moreover, the correct logistic organization of the reception phase in the cellar will be favored together with the diversification of vinification lines according to their quality.

Activities

The project activities include: identification of operational sites; updating of the innovative device, training on the use of the device and preliminary verification in the field; on field use of the system; creation and preliminary validation of the calibration curves for the analyzed varieties; on field validation of the system; extended updating and validation of calibration curves; evaluation of the product obtained from the phenolic maturity monitoring system in the various phases of the oenological process (grape harvest, processing, storage, trade and consumption).

Pratice abstract
Description

The expected results of the present Plan are the following:
- Creation of a new and efficient real time connection for the transfer of analytical data between the
farms and the processing companies;
- Identification of optimal phenolic maturation ranges for obtaining optimal maturity indices for
territorial varieties;
- Guidelines for a more efficient advance planning of grape harvest;
- Creation of a historical database for the parameters related to phenolic ripeness, easily accessible and
implementable annually with data provided by the farms located throughout the territory;
- Implementation of the logistic organization of the production lines destined to high quality wines;
- Extension of the results obtained in the "pilot farms" to the whole regional area interested by the
cultivation of the vine.
